The Donna Chernin Kurit Memorial Scholarship

An amazing friend, wife and mother, Donna Chernin Kurit (class of ’64) was also the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer for more than two decades. This scholarship was created in her memory by her friend for 58 years, Barbara Demming Lurie (HHS ’64); her significant other for nine years, Bill Proper (HHS ’63); and her brother, Dr. Dennis Chernin (HHS ’67), and is awarded each year to students who aspire to be journalists or filmmakers.
