Ahmaad Crump, 1994

“This honor means so much to me personally. Growing up from Coventry and also attending the Coventry Youth Center everyday, to Roxboro to Cleveland Heights, I wouldn’t trade my experiences in the Heights for anything.”

“It’s not what you’re capable of, it’s what you’re willing to do.”

Ahmaad Dushawn Crump always had a passion to entertain and make an impact throughout the community. Crump proudly credits his time in the CH-UH City Schools District for the foundation which his success has been built upon. While attending Coventry Elementary, his parent’s enrolled him in the Coventry Youth Center for afterschool programs and summer camps. According to Crump, his parents both worked hard to make sure the family was good, so this was designed to keep him out of trouble. It was at Roxboro Middle School where Crump solidified his love for sports. He played football, baseball and wrestled. After Heights graduation and attending Central State University for Marketing, Crump worked multiple jobs as he tried to determine what his career path would be. More importantly, what would he be happy doing?

There’s the old saying, ‘do what you love for a living, and you’ll never work a day in your life’. Well in 2005, Crump got the opportunity of a lifetime! He became the on-court host for the Cleveland Cavaliers and has not relinquished that position ever since. Not only is he the electric voice heard at every home game for the Cleveland Cavs, he has been selected by the NBA seven times for the All-Star Weekend and hosted the first ever NBA China Games. When not hosting NBA games, Crump can be found hosting community events and visiting students and teachers at schools in the community. He loves surprising students and teachers with tickets and other Cavs swag for the excellence they show in the classroom.

Crump’s motto is “EVERY FAN, EVERY GAME, EVERYTIME”! Meaning whether you have been to 10,000 games or your first, he will make it an experience for you to want to come back. In his own words, Crump will tell you, “Everything I’ve achieved over the years, the foundation was laid by CLEVELAND HEIGHTS!”
