“Acceptance into the HOF is a tribute to my teachers, administrators, and friends. Heights taught me education goes beyond the classroom. Our diversity showed me that the world is a better place when you have been educated to attempt to understand what it means to walk in another person’s shoes.”

“Let troubles roll off your back like a duck in water.” My late brother Bruce (CHHS ’77) used to remind me of this all the time. In our house now we just say “Be a duck!”

Andy Baskin is a proud graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and an alumnus of Kent State University. At Cleveland Heights High School, he was actively involved in various sports including hockey, baseball, football, and basketball. Notably, his senior year hockey team set a record for 30 straight wins and finished as state runners-up. In addition to his athletic achievements, Baskin was also a member of a state champion mock trial team.

Baskin earned a four-year degree in the telecommunications program at Kent State University. He was honored as the Distinguished Citizen of the Year for his philanthropic work.
